HISTORY AND LIFE OF AMB. HARUNA GINSAU (BARADEN HADEJIA)

Ambassador Haruna Ginsau, mni, Director, Monitoring, Evaluation and Research (M, E&R) hails from Hadejia, Jigawa State. He is a graduate of Political Science, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, 1981.

He joined the Nigerian Foreign Service in 1982 as Third Secretary, and up till date has served in various Departments at the Headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) as well as Nigerian Missions abroad. He has served in the Embassy of Nigeria, Dakar, Senegal, Nigeria High Commission, London and the Nigerian Embassy, Madrid Spain where he served as Minister/Head of Chancery and later became the Chargé d´ Affaires (Acting Ambassador) of Nigeria to the Kingdom of Spain and the Holy See, Acting Permanent Representative of Nigeria to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) and Acting Commissioner General for Nigeria International Exposition of Zaragoza, Spain, 2008. Ambassador Ginsau has also served as Chargé d´ Affaires a.i (Acting Ambassador) Embassy of Nigeria, Khartoum, Sudan, June 2011 – July 2012 and was appointed by President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria and the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic (on concurrent basis) July, 2012 – February, 2016. From July 1997 – January, 1999 he served as Member, Jigawa State Executive Council during which he was Honourable Commissioner, Ministry of Lands and Regional Planning; Supervising Commissioner for Environment and Acting Chairman Jigawa State Boundaries Committee. He was the Head of Protocol, House of Representatives, December, 1999 to June, 2000. From June 2000 – May 2003, he served as the Chief of Staff, Office of the Honourable Speaker, House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Ghali Umar Na’Abba. He was also Member, House of Representatives Technical Committee on Legislative Budget and Research Office. Amb. H. Ginsau was a participant of Senior Executive Course 32/2010 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, February – November, 2010, and was awarded the prestigious Membership of the National Institute (mni).

He holds the Traditional Title of BARADE of Hadejia and was decorated with the highest National Honour of the Saharawi Arab Democratic Republic. Ambassador Haruna Ginsau, mni, is married and blessed with five (5) Children, loves Horse Riding, Basket Ball and Swimming and also engages himself in farming.
