SOME CONTRIBUTIONS OF THE EMIR OF HADEJIA ALH. HARUNA ABDULKADIR DURING HIS REIGN.

He was born in Hadejia in 1908, he was installed as the new Emir at the age of 42 in 1950. Not long he become the Emir of Hadejia that he went to Saudi Arabia, he was the first Emir of Hadejia to go to Holy pillgrime to Mecca in 1952. He would however  be remembered for his numerous contributions to the progress and the vast development of his people and the entire Emirate. During his reign noted for his relentless effort and activitism in fostering growth, peace, and development in his domain.

It was during his 34 years reign that such noble and tramendous Economic, Social, Political, administrative developments become so visible in Hadejia Emirate. Hadejia Water Supply was commissioned in 1955. The construction of the new Emir Chamber commence in 1953 and that the new Emir's Gate in 1959.

The first landed Aircraft was said to have taken place at Hadejia in 1959. And School of Agriculture in 1972 at Malam-Madori, a 24 hour electricity supply also become the lot of the generality of the people of Hadejia during his reign. It was also during his reign that agriculture was revolutionised and given a boost in the Emirate.

For a large production of grain crops which Hadejia is noted for the FG established Hadejia Jama'are River Basin and Rural Development Authority. So the government Multi-Million Naira Irrigation Scheme under Hadejia Jama'are, since been contributing to the mass harvest of Wheat, Rice, Millet, and Guinea-Corn by the farmers in Hadejia.

The new Hadejia Juma'at Mosque was commissioned for use in 1962 in recognition of his contribution to the development of his Emirate Alh. Haruna Abudulkadir was Awarded O.B.E Medal in 1963. He also the paid a visit to England on Medical ground in 1971 as the first the First Emir of Hadejia to travel to Europ.

In spite of the turbulent political pandemonium and confusion of the first and the second republicts that ravaged the whole country as a result of election rigging, thuggery, intolerance and economic crunch, Hadejia was able to witness an unpertured atmosphere of peace and tranquility.

This might not be unconnected with the counsel of the able rularship of the Emir Alh. Haruna Abudulkadir who was able to control his subject. The energetic Emir, as a result of his deterioriating condition. He dead on 23rd August, 1984 at the age 70.
